I found a very interesting interpretation of Ridley Scotts sci-fi horror Alien. In this commentary the author points out that Aliens plot was unique and ahead of its time. The main point he makes is that the hero is a woman, which was very uncommon in movies at that time. Another very uncommon theme of the time was the impregnation of a man and the violent birth of the alien. As the author put it, it was a fantasy inspired by the decade’s gay and feminist movements. It further goes into the film and how it went against common stereotypes, which makes for an interesting reading.
