"Ultimate Monster Movie"

Here I have linked a review by someone names Jonathan Stryker. In his review he explains that "Alien" is the extreme monster movie like "Jaws" and like "Jaws", it benefits from creating a sense of fear" by only showing the monster itself in small clips. He says the the acting in this film were amazing. "Alien" to Stryker, is a "monster-on-the-loose" type story.
