When someone watches TITANIC they are probably thinking that they are watching a true historic film. And they are right. This website compares the film to the actual historical facts. And as it turns out the only real difference is that there was no Jack Dawson or Rose Calvert on the titanic. As for the rest of the characters, most were actually passengers on the Titanic. Captain Edward John Smith, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, and John Jacob Astor (to name a few) were passengers. An interesting fact is that Rose's' character was derived from a real character, Rose Abbot, who was the only surviving woman rescued from the water.
