A little bit of Magic...A little bit of Murder
In this review by Roger Ebert, "The Illusionist" is praised as a movie of depth. Ebert, a Pulitzer-Prize winning film critic, is known for his weekly review column which appears in the "Chicago Sun Times" since 1967.Unlike the previous magician movie of 2006, "The Prestige," this movie actually delivers an intriguing story that parallels a real magic trick, one that keeps you guessing till the very end. As Ebert states on his online review website, "The movie sets up a fascinating parable about art, religion, and politics and the misty boundaries between them." Not only does he go into detail about the different film techniques the director used to give this eerie film it's subtle glow, but he does an excellent job describing the actors and how well they played their parts of this masterful...well illusion.
