28 Days Later

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketThe horror flick, 28 Days Later, is one of today's generations typical horror films. The film is about a disease of "rage" that monkeys are infested with, but the disease leaks out as activists release them. The infected instantly become cannibals and eat off the flesh of other humans. The protagonist, Jim, played by Cillian Murphy, wakes up to the destroyed population after being in a coma for 28 days. The only difference of the everyday zombie film, is that the "infected" are still alive. One quote from this summary that I thought was clever was, "The power of the film is not that it hasn't been done before, but that it hasn't been done recently." This quote by Kim Newman of Empire Magazine demonstrates how new and innovative ideas are hard to come by in film, and that the greatest impact of the film is only through what hasn't been done....for awhile.
