There's No Fight, All About "Fight Club"

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the "club".

This classic movie is an all-time favorite of mine because of its intriguing thoughts and ideas. The setting takes place in a dark, musky basement where middle-aged men meet in order to escape the world. The original author of Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk, does an excellent job at creating characters that have layers of personalities. By making the characters complex, the reader/watcher of Fight Club gets to experience how the characters change throughout the novel/movie. For example, imagine our English class. What would happen if Mr. Bushnell was a sadist who taught kids that were bipolar, insomniac, power mongers, and even a couple of nymphomaniacs? On top of that, what if he ordered the kids to meet in the basement of Burham Hall to fight? If all this were to happen, one might have a taste of Fight Club.

Another thing I really like about this movie are the quotes. For example, one of the characters remarks, "You buy furniture. You tell yourself, 'this is the last sofa I will ever need in my life'. Buy the sofa, then for a couple years you're satisfied that no matter what goes wrong, at least you've got your sofa issue handled. Then the right set of dishes. Then the perfect bed. The drapes. The rug. Then you're trapped in your lovely nest, and the things you used to own, now they own you" (Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club). Now that's mind boggling! Just think about it the next time you step into an IKEA or Target.

If nothing else, watch it for the fight scenes. Some still make me laugh when I see them.

Here's the trailer, I hope it works. If not, blame YouTube and the html.
