Spy Game

Miraculous cars, beautiful women, startling gadgets, exotic locations, alcohol consumption, explosions, car chases and crashes, and armaments are some of the ‘icons’ spy films have. Although all these components make up a spy film, there is more to it. Spy Game in context to Bourne Identity and other spy movies, contribute to the “spy film” image. The movie starts off with Brad Pitt, a spy, on a mission in china. During the mission Pitt is taken in captive. When CIA is informed that the Chinese government has captured an American spy, they need to find out everything they can about Brad Pitt. During this process Robert Redford is questioned. Robert Redford recruited Brad Pitt from the army in the late 70s. We learn tat he was a sniper, and showed potential for the spy game. So Redford takes him under the wing, and shows him everything there is about the game. Although by the end of the movie we learn that Brad Pitt had fallen in love, and broken rules to rescue his lover (the mission in china), this movie revolves around the spy “world”. As in Bourne identity, Bourne quits his doings to be with Marie Kreutz. Both these movies have much in common, which is in context to all spy films. By reading the review of this film, you will learn the similarities and differences of both the movies.
